Brilliant, quirky house design. Everything you need and only 10 mins from the city. Highly recommended

Zoe & Giles have done a terrific job with the Container House. It's a zany, quirky and amazingly liveable series of spaces stacked on top of one another and facing a rock wall in Happy Valley. From movie room to cedar-lined bathhouse and waterfall, there's everything you need and some things you quite possibly don't. We loved the design details, great linen, and soaps. Five stars...

It was funky and interesting. Location suited us being 200m from ocean and not far from town. If you are a road bike rider it is on a great loop around the city area. All the cooking amenities were new and great. Giles provided some great hospitality with things like food and basics in the fridge when we arrived. The house was more relaxing and prepared than the website indicated which was a nice outcome. The entertainment system was a nice touch, especially for the teenagers.

Holiday Houses review

My family were visiting Wellington for my Uncle's 100th birthday so it was a happy gathering for us all. Our stay was even more memorable and exciting as I had booked us into The Container House, Wellington for our three night stay. It is a very unique place to stay and my 90 year old dad, who is an architect, was intrigued by the design. It was beautifully & tastefully fitted out with all the mod cons you could ever want. We were engrossed in the dozens of books and even old vinyl LP's with a record player I have recommended it to all my friends country wide and we will definitely be back to stay sometime in the near future. Thanks to Zoe & Giles for their warm welcome.

Holiday Houses review

I booked this house for my birthday weekend and it was absolutely fantastic. First of all Zoe and Giles, the owners, were absolutely lovely to deal with in the lead up to my stay. The house itself is amazing. Something so different and cool. I had a few friends over on the Friday night and the outside area, with the waterfall, outside shower and bath, as well as the record player and records were a real hit. The second night was just me and a friend having a movie night in the penthouse cinema. Top Gun on the big screen was the perfect way to end my birthday weekend. The house itself is clearly an architectural gem, and the owners have decorated the interior perfectly. The penthouse bed was so large and comfortable with a great down duvet. The kitchen is kitted out with all the utensils you could need and I had to stop myself from stealing their cutlery which looks fantastic. Their instruction manual was easy to follow with how to do rubbish, recycling, turning lights and the waterfall on and off as well as things to do in the area. Easy to get to on one of the main streets between the city and the south coast of Wellington, with a double garage and also loads of on street parking. Not that you are wanting to leave the house ever. Will definitely be staying again.

Great management made sure we had everything we could need. It was so unique and so much fun. Equipped with everything we needed. We loved the media room which had a great selection of dvds and an xbox. We had four adults and two 6 year olds stay and everyone wants to stay there again. Great location close to beach, cafes and shops. So much bigger than it looks in the photos. Every room is so unique and you could spend hours just looking around. A unique find the exceeds expectations.

We really enjoyed our stay at the container house. The house is so well laid out and built and definitely has a wow factor, the library of books, games and music helped pass the time during the evenings and the outdoor area was awesome. Due to the way the place is laid out, it feels amazingly spacious despite being a container built house. Our only regret is that we only stayed a couple of nights and not more.

Giles and Zoe are great hosts. Zoe met us at the place and made us feel really welcome. She showed us what we needed to see then let us explore the place on our own. The communication before we arrived was fast, friendly and really helpful. The place is unique - quite different from all the places we have stayed. There are four of us travelling (kids aged 8 and 10) and we all loved it. The kitchen was well stocked with all we needed to cook with, the dining and living areas were comfortable and had all we needed, and all the little details like the crockery were stylish and functional. The bedrooms, whilst not big, weren't cramped. They were decorated and adorned with things that had been thought about - and they were comfortable and chic - we all slept well there. The kids were very excited by the entertainment area on the top floor and it felt like we had our own private cinema. The bathroom was nice - great shower too. The 'bathhouse' was cosy and a nice place to have a soak. The house works really well with the outdoor space too, and it was cool outside the ground floor container (on the hottest day of the year in Wellington). We sat around outside on both levels and enjoyed teh space. So, the place is great and we will certainly go back if we go anywhere near Wellington again. The hosts are great. I can't recommend it enough.
